Kovaud Review: Compendium of Forgotten Secrets: Awakening

One of my all time favorite classes in 5th edition is the warlock. So when I came across the original Compendium of Forgotten Secrets on r/UnearthedArcana I was in awe. The lore and content for it was well made and I absolutely loved it, so when GenuineBeliever announced the Compendium of Forgotten Secrets: Awakening I just knew I had to get myself a physical copy of it. And that I did.
In this review I will be analyzing three main categories: Writing for flavor, lore, etc., Content for mechanics and such, and Presentation for art and layout!

The Compendium of Forgotten Secrets: Awakening or COFSA for short is a compendium of warlock options such as 17 new patrons known as Alrisen, new pact familiars, new eldritch invocations, new spells, new magic items, new subraces, and a new subclass for each Alrisen.

Writing: 10/10
William Hudson King is a fantastic writer. Each new Alrisen contains a lore section which helped to illustrate the personalities of each patron and helps develop how much and what type of influence they can have on a world. From the Serpent Empress who infiltrates and conquers worlds to the Storm Lord and how different cultures see the terrifying beast. The writing for this book is utterly amazing, it's like food for my writing brain.

Content: 10/10
Each of the 17 alrisen has a warlock subclass and a subclass for another class tied into it. The subclasses are well done along with everything else contained within the book! The spells in this book are really flavorful and well crafted with each spell containing a line of flavor that acts a ribbon such as for the spell Almighty Assault, the flavor for it says "And so the wrath of the righteous shall shatter mountains" which is very evocative.

Presentation: 10/10
The cover art and each piece of art for each of the Alrisen patrons is absolutely gorgeous. I found myself just admiring each piece and the vibrancy of their colors. Additionally, the books is excellently formatted and visually cared for. Whether it be placement of text or the splashes of color as if strokes of paint touched the pages, all of this culminating into an enjoyable visual design.

Kovaud's Rating: 10/10
"An absolutely gorgeous book that any gaming table should have!"

This is one of my absolute favorite books anyone in the homebrew community has ever created which is why I gave it a perfect score. You can purchase a PDF or physical copy of the Compendiumg of Forgotten Secrets: Awakening over at GenFantasyPress.com.

Paladin: Oath of Divinity

Hello all! I was toying around with the idea of a paladin whose oath eventually leads them to become a god or at least close to a god. Hope y'all enjoy!
